    Work is now underway to widen about two, and half miles of Carpenter Road in Tifton.When construction is complete, there will be two lanes of traffic in each direction, plus a center turn lane with curbs and gutters on both sides of the road.Drivers are encouraged to use an alternate route.The work is expected to be complete in October.Copyright 2014 WALB. Thomasville-  A Thomasville businessman struggles with an armed robber waiting for him as he opens his store.  Thomasville Police responded to Robertson Electric around 6:30 this morning. The owner William Robertson was attacked by an armed suspect as he tried to unlock the door. 

"He was approached from behind, grabbed by the suspect and they go into a scuffle. They rolled around and his wallet started coming out so, the suspect grabbed the wallet and ran," said Sgt. Rachelle Denmark, Thomasville Police. 

The wallet was recovered across the street, minus 60 dollars. The suspect is described as a black man with an athletic build between 5'7" and 5'10".  Anyone with information is asked to contact Thomasville CrimeStoppers at (229)227-3375.
