Valdosta - Christie Green and her son Marcus don't get to speak to her husband as often as she'd like. "He gets to Instant Message me about once a day, and email," Green said. Her husband's an airman at Moody on his second tour in Iraq.
But at the 4th Annual Moody Appreciation Fun Fair she got to send him a video message. "I just told him that we loved him and we missed him and stay focused on what he needs to do and God bless him," she says.
When her husband receives this message it will be the first time he'll have seen her since he left 2 months ago. This was just one of the many amenities the Chamber of Commerce offered to Moody Airmen and their families at today's Fun Fair.
"Moody is such a closed community. They really don't have to leave the confines of the base if they don't want to. So what we do is bring the business community to them and show them what great goods, products, and services we have in Valdosta and encourage them to come use our Chamber members for their needs," said Marilois Campa, Public Relations for the Valdosta Chamber of Commerce.
Vendors came out from all over the city to offer goody bags and answer questions about their services. "We have everything from banks to spas to insurance agencies to apartment buildings to realtors. There's a real good mix from the business community here," Campa added.
For Christie, it's a good distraction to keep her busy until her husband returns home in January.
