No autopsy for Boston

August 4, 2006

Albany -- No autopsy will be performed on Willie Boston, the retired coach found dead Thursday. The coroner says she believes he died of natural causes.

Boston's body was found in a chair in a central Albany boarding house yesterday. People who live in the house say he was there playing cards the night before and they found him on the porch around 5:00AM and carried him inside.

Coroner Emma Quimbley says the 64-year-old Boston had congestive heart failure and high blood pressure and she determined an autopsy was not necessary.

Toxicology tests were done, but results won't be known for several weeks.

Willie Boston coached the Westover Patriots basketball team for 22 years and led them to six state championships. He retired in 2001.
