Rams hold first fall practice

August 3, 2006

Albany - After two days of meetings, the handing out of equipment and physicals, it was time to get to work for the Albany State football team.

The three time defending SIAC champions holding their first practice of the fall this morning.

The Rams will continue to work out once a day before putting on the full pads on Monday.

The first two a day session will be Tuesday.

Last year, Albany State won the SIAC title in what was a rebuilding year with 18 new starters.

The Rams will only have to find two new starters for the dirty blue defense which is a big reason why Albany State is not only talking about winning another conference title but also a Division II national championship.

Senior defensive end Alton Pettway said "We have alot of goals this year. Mainly it is the big one. Try to win the big one this year. This is our last year."
Senior defensive back Marcus  Jefferson said "We had alot of players here this summer. The most players that have been here since I have been here and we are just ready to get started."

Albany State opens the season on the road August 26th at North Carolina Central.
