Albany - Dougherty County Sheriff Jamil Saba says no to granting arrest powers to School police outside of school campuses.

The school police requested officers be deputized by the Sheriff's office to give them jurisdiction in other parts of the county, but the Sheriff declined to do that.

The school board says that if the officers aren't deputized that could pose problems at football games and other areas where students gather for school related activities.

They plan to speak with the Sheriff again to discuss other options.
