Albany -- Albany isn't growing nearly as fast as Valdosta, but economic developers say the is still an expanding regional retail hub.

Chamber of Commerce president Tim Martin says the overhaul of downtown Albany is far from finished. Additions are on the way to the Flint Riverquarium and Thronateeska and the Museum of Art plans to move downtown.

The city also hopes to attract more retail businesses and restaurants to fill empty buildings downtown."As we're successful we're going to see people walking up and down Broad Street and Pine Street and shopping in the stores and eating in the restaurants, renewed vitality into the downtown area, very excited about those prospects," said Chamber of Commerce President Tim Martin.

The chamber also plans to increase marketing efforts aimed at attracting more retirees to Albany.
