Security guard shot

July 24, 2006

Albany --  A bandit who robbed the JackRabbit truck stop in East Albany shot an unarmed security guard as he made his escape late last night.

Fifty-year-old Joe Parker, who worked for Vinson Security, was shot in the left leg as he tried to lock the door of the store. Parker was treated at Phoebe Putney Hospital and then released.

The gunman wore a dark wind suit and a ski mask. He had a weapon which was described as a large silver revolver. He ran behind the counter and snatched money out of the cash register at 10:10 Sunday night.

WALB has a copy of the surveillance video tape, which will be used to help find the criminal.
