Albany -- Some of the best vocal talent from across South Georgia performed idol-style at Albany Mall tonight.

It was the final night of the Summer Kareoke Contest. The contestants were critiqued by a panel of judges, and the audience chose tonight's winner by donating money in their favorite contestant's name.

It's a fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network.

"I think it's good that it's going to a really good organization for the kids," said 11-year-old contestant Rachel Grimsley.

"Some people talk to people and some people sing to people, and my singing I hope people are touched by it so they have a better day," said contestant Ali Brannon.

More than 35-hundred dollars was raised for the local Children's Miracle Network chapter through the contests.

The winner of tonight's event, 11-year-old Rachel Grimsley will get a year's worth of Chick Fil A food and some gift certificates from the mall.
