Valdosta - The City of Valdosta welcomes 970 homes to the city.

After a decade of planning, the city will annex pockets of unincorporated areas that include these homes.

People affected by the annexation attended a meeting this afternoon to learn what new services they will be offered once the changes are made official August 1.  "As far as sanitation they'll see an immediate change in service with that coming into the city sanitation services. You're going to get all other city services, police, fire, community development. All that will start August 1 and the city milage rate will apply," said Mara Register, Director of Community Development.

Several businesses will also be welcomed into the city August 1.
