Albany -- Every public school in Dougherty County will have a nurse on staff when school starts. Phoebe Putney nurses are already in the county's high schools and middle schools.
When school starts August 11th, nurses will work in all 16 elementary schools, too. Nurses say students and faculty need more health care assistance than ever before.
"We can provide education for disease such as asthma and diabetes," said Angie Barber, Network of Trust. "We can help take care of a children who may have a serious health care need, as well as the day to day needs of a student, teacher or faculty member."
In the past, the health department supplied the elementary school nurses. By the way, school start August 2nd for Dougherty County students. That's just 13 days away!
