Suspicious package detonated at Federal Courthouse

July 18, 2006

Thomasville-  A night of excitement in Thomasville as GBI agents detonate a suspicious package on the front lawn of the Federal Courthouse.  WALB has exclusive video as the GBI's bomb robot delivers the water explosive to the package and it is detonated.

GBI agents detonated just one of the three boxes shortly after eleven. The remaining boxes will be examined. The boxes were discovered by the Post Master just before seven in front of the Federal Courthouse and Post office.

Police evacuated a one block area around the Federal courthouse. The incident did not disturb election results being counted just two blocks away at the Thomas County Courthouse.
