Atlanta -- Georgians chose nominees for Governor, Lieutenant Governor and several other statewide and local offices.

Top-billing on the ballot went to the governor's race. Four Democrats ran, and among them were two South Georgians, Mark Taylor and Cathy Cox. Taylor and Cox both watched returns from the state capital.

Taylor had a suite reserved at Twelve Atlantic Station. He waited until the conclusion of Cox's concession speech before making his appearance before his supporters.

Governor Sonny Perdue handily defeated his opponent, Ray McBerry. Perdue and Taylor will face-off in November
