Albany -- The Alabama-Georgia Make-A-Wish chapter gave one South Georgia teen a fun-filled day at Albany Mall today. Fifteen year-old Johnny Thompson of Americus got to enjoy a five hour shopping spree at the mall, all paid for by Make-A-Wish.

He got the chance to try on some new clothes and shoes at JCPenny, and Reeds Jewelers gave him a gift... a necklace with a basketball emblem on it.

Thompson is in remission from bone cancer following chemotherapy and had to give up his favorite sport. His family is thankful to be spending the day with him.

"When they hit him up with that first shot of chemo he woke up screaming and hollering and I said what's the matter with you and he said momma I don't feel no more pain. I just looked up and said thank you Jesus. That's all I could say," said Sandra Thompson.

And when asked what he has to say about the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Johnny Thompson had just one thing to say.

"Ya'll are great, ya'll are real great!"

Johnny's parents and two brothers got the chance to come along on the shopping spree.

Make-A-Wish grants children with life-threatening illnesses nationwide with a chance to do something they've always wanted to do.
