Stolen gas card, used for drug activity

July 12, 2006

Thomasville-  A Thomasville man is accused of stealing a gas card from his former employer and trading gas for drugs.

Thirty eight year old Robert Wiberly is charged with burglary and three counts of financial transaction card fraud. Investigators say Wiberly broke into the Thomasville Bedding Company in June and took one of the company's fleet gas cards.

"It appeared that maybe he was using it along with other people, trading out for whatever I believe that maybe some drug transactions may have expired with payment," said Inv. Pascal Autrey, Thomas Co. Sheriff's Office.

Wiberly bought more than $4,000 in gas. Thomasville police also charged Wiberly with taking credit cards from a North Broad street business and theft at the YMCA.
