Albany-- With election day just a week away, statewide candidates are criss-crossing the state.
Democratic Lieutenant Governor hopeful Greg Hecht greeted voters Tuesday night at an education forum in Albany.
Hecht is pushing education reforms including raises for teachers who leave high performing schools to teach at low performing schools. He also wants to tackle high gas prices. He wants a state by state investigation.
"Gasoline prices have increased 240 percent over the last 6 years, 80 cents since January. In addition, the federal government is giving 5-billion dollars away in our tax money to big oil companies every year," says Hecht.
Hecht is a Columbus native but lives in Jonesboro. He served as a state representative and senator.
