Calhoun prison inmate death ruled murder

July 11, 2006

Calhoun County -- An autopsy confirms that a Calhoun State Prison inmate was murdered last week.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents say 52-year-old John Bradford died from a stab wound to the chest July 5th. No details about the weapon were released.

Investigators say Bradford was found unconscious in his cell and was pronounced dead later at a hospital.

No arrests have been made, and G.B.I. agents say the Investigation into his murder is continuing.

Bradford was serving a life sentence for armed robbery. He was living in the prison's general population, but his supervision was that of a "mental health caseload."
