Police find murder suspect

July 10, 2006

Valdosta - Valdosta police have arrested the third suspect in what they say was a gang-related shooting death last month.  Roosevelt Lawrence IV was picked up near Fort Lauderdale, Florida Friday night.

Police say he was involved in the murder of 24-year-old Mason Harper on June 28th.  "They actually received information that our suspect would be leaving a convenience store down in the Fort Lauderdale area. The FBI Fugitive Task Force, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, and the Broward County Sheriff's office surrounded that convenient sotre and when he came out he was taken into custody without incident," said Valdosta Police Captain Brian Childress.

Lawrence remains in jail in Florida awaiting extradition.  Harper was found dead in his vehicle with a shotgun wound to the head.

Eyewitnesses saw a white honda civic at the scene.  That led to the arrest of 18-year-old Demario Garrison and 17-year-old Justin Hendrix.

All three suspects are charged with murder.
