Albany -- Albany will hire from the inside to fill its final assistant city manager position. Today, Wes Smith was named the best qualified applicant of the four interviewed by City Manager Alfred Lott.
Smith currently works in the city's engineering department. He will replace Kevin Hogencamp who resigned in March over the way the administration handed out employee bonuses.
City Manager Alfred Lott said he interviewed four applicants.
The new assistant city manager will oversee the Recreation, Central Services, Human Resources and Information Technology departments as well as the Civic Center.
