Cordele -- A passerby found the body of a black man early this morning in Cordele.

About 7:00AM, a passerby saw the man's body lying beside the roadway in the 1000 block of North Joe Wright Drive, and called 911.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the death, which is being treated as a homicide at this time.

Authorities now know who the person was, but they will not release his name at this time, or any other details of the death, so we do not know the man's approximate age, or whether there were any visible signs of trauma to the body.

The body has been transported to the crime lab for an examination.

We'll have more information on the man's death as it becomes available.
