Independence Day brings in business

June 30, 2006

Albany -- Whether you travel or stay home, many of you will do a little extra shopping over the holiday weekend. The National Retail Federation says 87-percent of consumers will celebrate this July 4th holiday, and most won't let travel expense impact their spending.

The owner of Party Plus Wedding on Dawson Road says many people are coming in to buy not only patriotic party decor, but all different themes.

Customers say the decorations add flavor to the festivities."It just sets the mood for the party and if you've done an invitation with a theme it's just fun to carry the rest of it out with the decorations," said party supply shopper Pat Burger.

More than a quarter of people polled by the Retail Federation say they plan to take advantage of holiday sales and promotions.
