Albany -- The Albany Dougherty County Board of Registration and Elections celebrates the service of a longtime retiring member today.

It was an emotional goodbye for Gloria Wiggins who has served on the board for 24 years. Throughout the years Wiggins has kept all area precincts up to date making it possible for thousands of people to vote.

She's watched as voting methods changed five different times during her career, from old fashioned paper ballots to the current use of the electronic express poll. "Each one has been easier, simpler for the voter, simpler for the poll worker, than the one that we had before. It just has improved with each election," said Gloria Wiggins.

She wants to devote time to caring for her ill husband.
