Banks held up by the same man?

Cordele -- A manhunt is underway for a South Georgia bank robber. The man police are searching for may be the same person who held up another bank early this month.

Just before 4:30 Tuesday afternoon, a man walked into the bank, showed a gun and calmly demanded money.

When a security camera picture from the Cordele robbery is compared with one taken during a June 5 bank robbery in Tifton, a similarity between the suspects is evident -- from the baseball cap, to the sunglasses, and even to the open collared shirt.

Police say they are aware of the similarities, but haven't concluded if the two are connected.

Tuesday in Cordele, search dogs tracked the man's scent to the 11th Avenue overpass, but the trail ended there.

They think he may have had a car waiting for him there by the interstate. "He could have gone North, South... of course Cordele being a transportation hub of South Georgia, there are a lot of different ways to go to get out of town," said Chief Dwayne Orrick of the Cordele Police Department.

The suspect is a white man, about 6 feet tall and 230 to 240 pounds. If you have any information on either of these bank robberies you're urged to call police.
