Lee County receives land use study

June 20, 2006

Lee County--Three people move to Lee County every day and 500 new homes are built every year. That's why it's one of the fastest growing counties in the nation.

Economic development officials now have in their hands a future potential land use study from Georgia Tech. They'll use it to identify potential industrial sights, before residential development becomes a problem for economic growth.

Lee County Development Authority Executive Director Winston Oxford said " if we don't have our land use maps up to date and in line,we will wake up 10, 15, 20 years from now and have absolutely no property available for development for industrial purposes. "

Lee County paid $12,000 for the Georgia Tech land use study, which pinpointed 8 potential industry sites.
