Watermelon seller loses his life in car wreck

Crisp County - - A day selling watermelons at a Cordele market turned deadly for a Sylvester man this morning.

Georgia State Patrol investigators say 66 year old William "Bud" Jones died instantly when he hit a tractor trailer heading south on Highway 300.

The truck driver was making a turn when Jones' dodge pick-up ran into him.

Traffic on the highway had to be re-routed for half an hour.

The Jaws of Life was used to remove Jones' body and transport it to a local funeral home.

The accident happened at 11:30 this morning.
