Albany --  A female employee of the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office was shot and killed outside her residence on Temple Avenue about 4:45PM Friday.

All available local law enforcement personnel, including a GSP helicopter, quickly mounted an intensive search for two male suspects, one black, and the other white. They were first thought to be traveling in a Ford SUV. Then the word came that they were in a white 1998 Mitsubishi Diamante.

We believe that one of the suspects called Sylvester of Worth County law enforcement, asking to surrender to them. The pair was taken into custody at the McDonanald's in Sylvester.

Law enforcement from Albany quickly drove to Sylvester to take custody of the two. At first, we thought that the woman was a deputy, but we've since learned that she was a detention officer for the sheriff.

Sheriff Jamil Saba was said to be enroute to another city to deliver the sad news to the woman's next of kin.
