Albany -- Albany and hotel and motel owners are working together to increase their business and bring more visitors to town. They formed the Southwest Georgia Hotel and Motel Associates to help improve conditions and service of hotels.

The group will keep members up to date on needs of guests and come up with ways to bring in more customers and conventions. Convention business has dwindled recently for some hotels.

"They can help themselves now through their own association, and that's excellent. I'm kinda excited about it and the hotel people I've spoken to, they're excited. The owners, because they need the revenue," said America's Best Value and Knights Inn marketing and sales manager Nadine Clark.

The group welcomes suggestions from the community. They'll hold their first meeting open to all hotel managers next month.
