Albany - Dozens of South Georgians walked two miles on Albany downtown streets today to fight hunger.
The Food Bank of Southwest Georgia says 38 million Americans don't have enough to eat. They hope that today's walk will remind us all that hunger is a problem everywhere.
"People continue to lose jobs. We come in to help feed those people, offset the cost. You have a lot of senior citizens who can't afford meals these days. You've got 45 percent of the people who fall through the loop for food stamps," says Food Bank Executive Director Dwayne Miles.
The Food Bank distributes four million pounds of food in 20 South Georgia counties each year.
More than 150 cities hosted walks today which is National Hunger Awareness Day.
