Albany - - A South Albany church has a reason to celebrate tonight.

Members of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church held service in their brand new building today. The new building allows the church to house double the amount of seats than the old building.

It was a joyful celebration as members dedicated the building today. Church staff say it's been a long time coming.

"It had been a dream of a lot of the folks that were members of this church even 30 years ago that at some point in the future we would purchase this piece of land and put a nice edifice here so four years ago we decided that we would try to make that dream become a reality," says church deacon Ronnie Arrington.

The dedication service packed the new building.

Mount Pilgrim invited members as well as guests to help them celebrate. Mayor Willie Adams was one of those guests.
