TIFTON - Georgia DOT Moultrie Area Engineer Sonja Thompson recently announced that on Thursday, June 01, 2006, the DOT closed SR270 between SR33 and Old Albany Road near Doerun, per the Military's request.
This detour will be in effect for at least 24 hours. The detour is set as follows: Traffic traveling east on SR270 will be detoured onto Old Albany Road to SR 133 and then to SR33 Traffic traveling west on SR270 by way of SR33 will be continue on SR33 to SR 133 and then pick up SR270 in Doerun.
Motorists traveling on this detour route should slow down, be alert and pay special attention to all detour signs, pavement markings, traffic control devices and changing traffic patterns.
The Georgia Department of Transportation seeks to provide information to the traveling public about traffic obstructions on Georgia's interstates and State Routes in order that motorists may travel safely and efficiently on our systems.
Drivers are encouraged to use the services provided at GDOT's Traffic Management Center. Operators are on duty 24/7 to provide traffic information, answer questions and alert motorists to any traffic interruptions that may occur.
