Albany -- If you're not worried about summer heat, you may be worried about hurricane season. It starts in less than an hour, and many service organizations are getting ready.

The Food Bank of Southwest Georgia is taking inventory to see what donations are needed. The organization says it's ready to help in case of another disastrous hurricane season because it partnered with the American Red Cross and Salvation Army to handle disaster relief in South Georgia.

But steady donations are vital to keep those groups going.

"The areas that the hurricanes are hitting most peoples are sending the products there. We have so many folks that comes here into our state and into our city, and we forget about those," said director of operations Tony Hall.

The Food Bank accepts monetary and non-perishable food donations. It serves 20 counties here in Southwest Georgia.
