Albany -- A well-known Albany man remains in jail without bond, charged with murdering his wife.

71-year-old Charlie Goolsby made his first court appearance Sunday. He's charged with shooting and killing his 48-year-old wife, Betsy, who was shot at the couple's Star Court home in the Lake Park subdivision early Saturday morning.

Betsy Goolsby worked at Palmyra Medical Centers for 30 years, most recently as human resources director.

Prosecutors say the Goolsby's had been at the Elk's Lodge the evening of the shooting. When they returned home, she was shot twice. Police don't know why.

Charlie Goolsby, nicknamed Goose, previously worked at Palmyra Medical Centers.
