Albany -- Charlie Goolsby remains in jail without bond, charged in the shooting death of his wife.

According to an incident report, the 71-year-old Goolsby told police that his 48-year-old wife, Betsy, had been murdered in their home on Star Court. The incident report indicates both had been drinking alcohol at the time of the shooting which happened around 1:00AM Saturday.

Investigators say there were discrepancies in his story and have charged him with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Betsy Goolsby was the Director of Human Resources at Palmyra Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church in Albany.
