Albany -- The American Red Cross partnered with Chick-fil-A restaurants statewide for a blood-drive.

It's the first time the fastfood chain has hosted a blood-drive event. Those who gave blood got prizes and some free food. Chick-fil-A representatives say it was a great partnership for a worthy cause.

"There is a need there's always a shortage of blood especially during a holiday time. I know they've probably exhausted their supplies already and they're looking for anyone willing to donate," said Anna Wari.

Saturday's blood drive was from 10-3 at Chick-Fil-A on Dawson Road.
