Albany--A couple of suspected drug dealers went to jail because they didn't wear their seat belts. Dougherty County Police HEAT units were running click it or ticket patrols on Moultrie Road a little before five o'clock Wednesday afternoon. They tried to pull over a Honda Accord because the two men inside weren't buckled up.

The driver led police on a chase at speeds up to 90-miles per hour down U.S. Highway 19 all the way to Baconton where the men jumped out and ran.  Mitchell County Sheriff's deputies helped catch 21-year old Jeffrey Richardson and 24-year old Damien Hawkins of Camilla. Investigators found about $23,000 worth of drugs in the car.

The suspects are charged with numerous traffic violations as well as cocaine trafficking and possession of marijuana and ecstasy with intent to distribute. Authorities also arrested the owner of the car, 25-year old Portia Jenesha Smith of Albany, and charged her with the drug offenses.
