Albany - The City of Albany files for dismissal of the lawsuit by former Civic Center Director Mattie Goddard. Goddard is suing the city and city manager Alfred Lott for improperly firing her.

Goddard claims that she was discriminated against and that the City broke hiring policies when firing her. The City filed a motion to dismiss, stating Lott had the right to fire Goddard at any time and the Superior Court has no jurisdiction in the issue. No hearing date has been set.

Goddard also filed a federal lawsuit against the City. She was fired in February.

A new civic center director, John Mazzola, begins June 5th.
