Albany - - Making a comedy out of the church in order to inspire change. That's the purpose of a traveling gospel play that's in Albany today.

"A Church Mess" takes a look at negative issues facing the church - like "holier than thou" members, money hungry deacons, infidelity, and people living lifestyles that contradict the bible.

Organizers say it's not just about laughs, but that there's a deeper message in the play.

"The mess is not of the church but it's in the church so we explore it and deal with it so we can expose it get it out of the church so it really introduces the church as still the best institution in life for deliverance and healing," says Producer Chad Cooper.

The play has been performed in Florida and Georgia. It will be performed throughout the country.
