Albany -- Lucky mothers hit the dance floor with fine young dates Friday night. It was the annual Mother/Son Ball at Albany State University.

The event is hosted by the school's faculty and staff alumni group and the Cheer Up organization. Those who came say it's a good way to show their mothers some love.

"Have a great time and dance and wish her a happy mother's day," said Jaron Buchannon.

"It's really special for me that they thought enough of their mother to bring me out on a date," said Carla Holt.

Proceeds will help fund scholarships from the faculty and stuff alumni and give the Cheer Up cheerleading team money to go to competition.
