Albany - A veteran Probate Court clerk is honored for her dedication to the legal system and her service to the people of Dougherty County. Gloria Newberry was given the Liberty Bell award. The award is given to someone who's not an attorney but helps citizens navigate the judicial system.

Newberry has worked in Dougherty County's probate court for 31 years and is currently the chief deputy clerk.

"I was shocked and elated all at the same time," said Newberry. "I do take my job seriously and try to help those in their time of need."

Newberry says she enjoy working with people in crucial times of their lives, whether it be getting their marriage license or handling the will of a deceased loved one.
