Fire at Cooper Tire Plant

May 7, 2006

Albany - - A fire at the Cooper Tire Plant was too big for the plant's employees to handle alone.

The fire broke out this morning around 10 oclock. When one of the containers used to mix rubber caught on fire, Cooper workers called the Albany Fire Department for assistance.

Cooper has its own in-house brigade to normally handle fires, but they couldn't contain this one by themselves. The Fire Department brought the fire under control.

No injuries were reported and employees were able to return to work.
