Truck wreck snarls traffic

May 2, 2006

Albany -- A garbage truck wreck on the Liberty Expressway in Albany backed up lunchtime traffic.

The Trans-Waste Services truck was headed west on the bypass between Blaylock and Jefferson Streets when the driver apparently decided to go the other way.

Police say he pulled into the median to cut across and struck an eastbound Isuzu SUV. The SUV went airborne and landed at the bottom of the embankment.

Amazingly, neither driver was seriously injured, but traffic was backed up until both vehicles could be moved.
