Mass Choir records album in the Good Life City

April 28, 2006

Albany-- They've been to Europe, been featured in big box-office movies. Now the Georgia Mass Choir will raise their voices and record the gospel in Albany.

The Georgia Mass Choir will record their 10th live album at Sherwood Baptist Church this weekend. The choir is made up of about 150 members from all over Georgia. Reverend Milton Biggham formed the choir 19 years ago in Macon.

Since then, they've appeared in "The Preacher's Wife" with Whitney Houston and Denzel Washington and performed on The Today Show and even Saturday Night Live. Reverend Biggham is from Barwick, Georgia. He says it was his goal to return to his roots and record this session in the South.

"God has done a wonderful thing with these people and that's what makes it so unique that these are church folks who are doing it for the love of the music and I think for their faithfulness, God has blessed us and taken us to another level," says Biggham.

The album will be recorded live Saturday night at 7 p.m in Sherwood's auditorium. Everyone's invited to attend. The Georgia Mass Choir will also record two songs with Sherwood's choir as well as Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Dorothy Norwood is also a featured singer.
