Thomas County- The ban has been lifted and it's back to the business of building homes in Thomas County. Commissioners lifted the moratorium on building that was set to expire on Monday, but concerns remain.

Commissioner Elaine Mays wants 30 percent of the land in a residential subdivision to be set aside for green space.

"I think it's really important to preserve some of those areas for children to play. If it's a 30 acre lake in a 100 acre project that takes up the 30 percent," said Commissioner Elaine Mays, Community Improvement Committee.

More than 1,600 residential permits have been applied for to date this year.
