Thomas County- Four candidates in Thomas County have qualified for July's primary. In Thomas County, there are four county commission and four county school board seats up for election along with state wide races.

Republicans already have a candidate to replace Thomas County Commissioner Bobby Brown who isn't running for re-election while Thomas County's democrats plan to show up in force.

"Qualifying only began this morning at nine o'clock and we've already had one candidate qualify for a position being vacated by a local county commissioner," said Tim Louderback, Thomas County Republican Party Chairman.

"In the past, Thomas County has always been a heavily democratic section of the state so, hopefully we can it back around and have it to remain back to the democratic side," said Rudolph Elzy, Thomas County Democrat Party Treasurer.   Qualifying ends at noon on Friday.

Ken Hickey qualified as a District 3 Republican Commissioner and Merrill Baker Jr. qualified as a District 1 Democrat. Both Ethel Abrams and Robert Holton both filed for re-election.
