Albany -- An all-night fundraiser to help the American Cancer Society save lives kicked off Friday night at Darton College.

Relay for Life is an annual event in which teams of people take turns walking or running around a track. They raise money to fight cancer.

At the Darton College track, volunteers have set up for the big event. Hundreds of people will be gathering here all night long walking and running around the track, raising money for the American Cancer Society.

Millions of Americans participate in the nationwide fundraiser in honor of loved ones who have died of cancer, and to raise money for research so that future lives will be spared, which is why many people feel compelled to take part in Relay for Life.
