Grand jury returns criminal indictments

April 17, 2006

Albany -- A South Georgia grand jury charges a Dougherty County man with raping and molesting two young girls over several years.

David Lee Marshall is charged with rape, aggravated Child molestation and child molestation for abusing a young girl repeatedly from November 2000 to December 2003. Prosecutors say the girl was about eleven when the abuse began. He's also charged with child molestation for touching another young girl's breasts.

Prosecutors are seeking life imprisonment for Marshall because of his prior record, which includes at least one felony conviction.

A Grand Jury has also charged a South Georgia man with cruelty to a child in the first degree for shaking a baby and causing severe brain damage.

Prosecutors say Brian Contrell Perry, shook his girlfriend's infant child so violently at their Dougherty County home, that it caused serious brain damage and at least temporarily paralyzed the left side of her body.

He's charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and making false statements. That charge stems from a conversation Perry had with officers when he said the child hurt herself by biting an electrical cord.
