Albany -- The Easter Bunny makes a special visit to children at area hospitals. The floppy eared friend walked down the children's wing of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital spreading Easter cheer.

The Easter Bunny bought a smile to sick children's faces, along with other surprises like coloring books and stuffed animals.

The Dougherty County Police Department sponsored the event today, in connection with the Easter Bunny Foundation. They say they're happy to provide the service and hope to continue the visits in the future.

"It's unfortunate that the children have to be in the hospital on Easter and we just want to bring a smile to them with a visit from the Easter Bunny," said Captain Jimmy Sexton.

The Easter Bunny Foundation was founded 11 years ago in Florida. This is the second Easter Dougherty County Police have made hospital visits with the Easter Bunny.
