CCA point guard is D-II bound

April 13, 2006

Douglas - Citizens Christian Academy point guard Kelsey Daniel has signed a scholarship with Belmont-Abbey College a NCAA Division II school located near Charlotte, North Carolina.

Daniel is a four time GISA all-state selection and led Citizens Christian to back to back Class A state titles.

She is the Lady Patriots third all-time leading scorer with 2163 pionts and she leaves Citizens Christian as the school leader in assists with 726.

Making the jump from private school to NCAA Division II basketball is big but Daniel believes she can make the adjustment.

Kelsey Daniel said "Coming from a small school there was not alot of competition and it is definitely going to be harder. And there is going to be different situations and I am definitely going to have to make a few changes. Everybody can always change their game some."

In her senior season, Kelsey Daniel averaged almost 17 points, six rebounds, seven assists and six rebounds a game as the Lady Patriots were 53-4 in the last two years.

Daniel was recruited a number of schools but says she chose Belmont-Abbey over Birmingham-Southern.
