Thomasville- A man banned from Thomas County is arrested in Thomasville for a Sunday shooting. Thomasville Police received a tip that 25 year old Herbert Gilbert, thought to have fired a gun in Cherokee Homes, was driving around Thomasville Wednesday. Police stopped him in front of the police station on Smith Avenue, and the situation escalated when they learned he had a gun in the car.

"We turned it into a felony stop to be on the safe side and that means more officers involved, we have to utilize our weapons, you know pull them out of the holster, to make sure that we're safe, everybody around is safe if he has a gun and we were able to find a gun in the car," said Sgt. Rachelle Denmark, Thomasville Police.

Police also found felony amounts of cocaine, marijuana, and ecstasy in the car. Gilbert was arrested on various charges without any trouble.
