Thomasville -- Thomasville Police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for firing a weapon Sunday afternoon, April 9 in Cherokee Homes.

According to Public Information Officer Sgt. Rachelle Denmark, twenty-five-year-old Herbert Dewayne Gilbert was taken into custody on Smith Avenue in Thomasville, and charged with charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Ecstasy with Intent to Distribute.

Gilbert was also in Thomas County after a judge had issued a banishment against him. More charges may be filed in connection with the shotting incident in Cherokee Homes.
