ASU's radio station earns top honors

April 11, 2006

Albany - Albany State's radio station wins top honors after just two years on air. WASU, 92.7 FM, was named the Black College Station of the Year at the annual Black College Radio Convention April 1st.

The station mixes jazz and R&B oldies, with student-produced programming. Mainly mass communications students operate the station, under the guidance of program manager Elvin Fluellen.

"I've received loads of experience from producing to on air work and all the technical stuff. I've been able to merge the two and produce quality progamming," said student and radio personality Terence Turner.

WASU first aired in 2003, and operates 24 hours a day.
